My Comic Collection

I collect comics & have been doing so for around 20 years now. Aside from Dawn and the occasional Vampirella, my collection now comes from the X-Series of Marvel comics.

I am the proud possessor of the complete X-Men, X-Factor, X-Force, and Excalibur series. In addition I am missing only 26 of the Uncanny X-Men.

My rarest comic would have to be a Phantom #2 from the days of collecting this. In addition, I have 1-10 of the Original X-Men, and several early 60's FF and Avengers. (including 1-4 of Avengers).

Supergirl comics, back when the REAL Supergirl lived, were the first comics I seriously collected. At least, as seriously as my pocket money would allow! I still have all them (I still have all the comics I have ever bought). Now, they could have killed of Superman instead, couldn't they? Oh, that's right - they did. Several times, actually. (Supergirl is copyright DC Comics)

These guys would have to be my favourites and the only ones I am still seriously collecting - usually for the story, rarely for the art (although it is generally good), but sometimes just for completeness. I mean it gets a bit boring - do you know how many times I have read "...protect a world that fears & hates them..." or how many times they have been fighting to survive? Give them a break! Give us a break! How about a good old baddy gets trounced in one issue. In one series at least. Even in just the X-comics! Please? (X-men are copyright Marvel Comics Inc.)

The first of the 'Bad Girl' comics I collected. Well, only Vengeance, although I have a few of the original series. I stopped because, frankly, the Artwork became shit. The story was good, but I just didn't get the feel for it any more. I still occasionally pop back, but, due to finances, it had to give way and I had more of the X-series anyway. She was cool. I got a few of her series, but she wasn't regular at my comic store. Besides, I don't think she gave what she promised. (Copyright Image Comics)

My latest 'find'. I'm currently getting what I can of here. The art is a trifle unrealistic (yet I'm not complaining), but I love the storyline. Especially the dragon. And the girl. Hate the father though. (Copyright Image Comics)

I'm really annoyed about this. DNAgents - a fantastic early 80's series which vanished and now I can't complete my collection. It did move into Crossfire for a while (at least Rainbow did), but even in Second-hand stores you can't find these guys. If you don't know, they were artificial humans who basically had to fight bad guys and the rest. It had a few advantages over other comics of the time. First, the colours were better and secondly they were hot! (A colourisation of this one is coming - unfortunately I only have a greyscale scanner)

There are lots of others in my collection - over 4000 at last count and that was a while ago. I've even got some Phantom Rangers from the 1930's and a heap of Disneys, Gold Key, Hanna-Barbera and the like.

Just to make all you comic afficionados sick: I once went to a market and picked up 500 comics for $50 (Australian). And there were 45 early (160+) Uncanny X-Men! Didn't even double up on any comics!

Oh yes, Dawn. Well, she's my all-time-number-one-favourite. If you want to see her either check out
